Informing Patients About Telemedicine Services

Before receiving telemedicine services, the patient must be informed about the following:


  • The identity and expertise of the healthcare professional providing the service.

  • That telemedicine services are not equivalent to in-person healthcare services.

  • Potential differences in practical treatments.

  • The possibility of requiring camera/microphone access for the service.

  • That the service may not start or may be interrupted due to technical issues.

  • That the service can be terminated at any time for medical or legal reasons.

  • The healthcare professional's responsibility to ensure the security of the IT systems, usernames, and passwords used.

  • The scope and potential outcomes of the service.


The information must be provided in simple language that the patient can understand.
